Prestige Volvo: Volvo Seeks To Regain Driving Enthusiasts With S60, XC60 R-Design Models

In past years, Volvo’s R-Design models have seen decreases
in both power and customer support. In
2012 Volvo aims to change both of these facts by increasing the performance of
their S60 and XC60 R-Design offerings.
The 2012 iterations of the R-Design will feature the most powerful
6-cylinder engine currently offered by Volvo. The newly enhanced engine offers
325 HP and 354 lb-ft of torque, while achieving maximum torque at just 3,000
RPM and keeping it available throughout the rev range.

Power is moot without the ability to control it, and Volvo
is definitely not ignorant to that fact.
With these two 2012 R-Design models they have stiffened the body
structure for improved steering response as well as improving cornering with
the all-new Corner Traction Control system.
Volvo Cars CEO and President of North America Doug Speck says these
performance enhancements give the R-Design models a “higher fun-to-drive” quotient,”
and he is confident that his customers will agree.

Along with these performance improvements come a number of
visual developments as well. The car now
has a lower front fascia with a grille painted a glossy piano black. The sporty look of the car is pushed further
with matching body components, distinctive tailpipes, and unique R-Design
diamond cut wheels. Volvo driving
enthusiasts should find plenty to love with these two R-Design models for 2012.
